A Kindness That Came Full Circle

Dear Friend,

I want to share a story that touched my heart and reminded me of the power of kindness.

A few days ago, I was on my way home, sitting on a bus that would drop me right near my house. As I approached my stop, I stood up to get off. Just then, a young man came forward looking confused. He was struggling to read the transit map and figure out where to get off. His English was limited, but he showed me an address on his phone.

The bus was already at the stop, so I quickly asked him to get off with me. I thought I could guide him and, if needed, help him catch the next bus. As we walked, I learned that he was a student who had landed in Canada just the day before. He didn’t know much about the city and commute. He was on his way to view a rental home for the first time and was clearly nervous and overwhelmed.

I reassured him that I would help. My home was just a short walk away, so I took him there, got my car, and drove him to the location. I even went inside with him, helped him communicate with the people sharing the house, and made sure he understood everything. After that, I took him to a phone store to activate his SIM card and helped him get a transit pass. Before we parted, I told him to reach out anytime if he needed help settling in.

That entire experience brought back memories of when I first came to Canada. I had been in his shoes—confused, scared, and unsure. Back then, kind-hearted people helped me without expecting anything in return. After dropping him off, I called those people who had helped me 10 years ago just to say thank you. They were so happy to hear from me, and we had a wonderful conversation.

This reminded me of something important: every tough situation teaches us something, and every act of kindness leaves a mark. We should appreciate those moments and always be ready to help others. Even a small gesture can make someone’s day less stressful and fill their heart with hope.

Kindness truly comes full circle.

Kind Regards,
Nidhi
